On april 17, 2009, Grace came to the nassau county jail to continue her discussion on superfoods and natural cures for diabetes, (See: 52ND CHRONICLE – FELLOWSHIP ADVICE AND BLISS GARDENS). Grace started right in without any preamble whatsoever on the topic of bad sugars being forced upon adult COG’s and COG children.
Grace told me that in almost every processed food COG’s are being force fed high fructose corn syrup, (HFCS). Grace is especially concerned that young COG’s are consuming this poison and have no idea what they are taking into their bodies. HFCS is the joining of fructose (a simple sugar) with glucose (another simple sugar). Both of these combined simple sugars create a natural poison for COG’s. Grace wants every COG to understand that the more complex the sugar, (meaning less processed) the better it is for you. HFCS is the lowest on the list, and pure simple sugar, that should be avoided at all costs.
Grace said that HFCS is found in candy bars, soda pop, baked goods, spaghetti sauce, salad dressings, ketchup and thousands of other foods. The average COG consumes more than 14 tablespoons of HFCS everyday. HFCS is cheap to produce and is super sweet. It is popular with food manufacturers as it is easy to blend into any liquid, powder or paste recipe.
The amazing part is the FDA says HFCS is safe, and respected medical research says HFCS is not safe.
Grace wonders why COG’s have not asked an obviously simple question. Is the FDA safe for COG’s? Grace says the FDA appears to be the public relations arm of big agra, and the policing arm of big pharma. Grace feel that the FDA has lost sight of its true mission and purpose, in the age old pursuit of the almighty dollar.
Grace spoke about leptin and the effect of HFCS on leptin. Leptin is the feel full hormone. It tells your brain you have had enough to eat. HFCS inhibits leptin. HFCS also inhibits the production of natural insulin leading to diabetes. HFCS in drinks has been found to create high levels of carbonyls which are dangerous to the blood stream, and cause damage to your tissues.
Grace said that aside from HFCS there are other bad sugars. Grace urges all COG’s to carefully read food packaging labels. Avoid any of the following sugars. Xylitol, which causes tooth decay. Brown sugar, which is essentially plain old processed white sugar with some molasses added for coloring. Artificial sweeteners like aspartame, sucralose, nutra-sweet, saccharin, aspartame, tagatose and truvia should also be avoided.
Grace said the following are the best sugars to use.
Turbinado sugar, also called raw sugar. This is natural sugar boiled down that contains natural molasses. Fruit juice concentrates. Evaporated cane juice. Agave syrup. Maple syrup. Brown rice syrup. Natural unprocessed honey, even better if it is with the comb. Coconut sugar, made from evaporated coconut sap. Muscovado sugar, also called moist sugar or barbados sugar, loaded with magnesium, potassium, calcium, and iron. Stevia, a plant based sugar that comes from south america, and is available in most health food stores.
Grace says that COG’s should drink one superfood green drink every day, and then couple that with the use of any of the good sugars listed above. Making these small simple additions and changes to your diet could save your life and the lives of your family. These small changes will prevent needless suffering from food based cardiovascular and diabetes problems.
